Tom Baxter

Tom has held past positions as a biologist for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as a private Environmental Consultant and has been a professional eco-tour guide for more than 15 years! His introduction to tour guiding at the age of 14 instilled a life long quest to expand his ecological awareness, with the intent to share with others. One of his greatest joys is revealing subtle natural phenomena to people who hadn’t had the chance to notice it previously. Tom has traveled across most of the US conducting biological field work while living in a van, a truck, and a sailboat, gaining experience with the biodiversity of the entire country. His adventures have taught him a holistic view of the ecosystems and wildlife communities that we look forward to sharing with you at Ecotonic Tours!

Jack McDonough

What Jack lacks in age, he makes up for in brilliance! At 19 years old, Jack is a prodigy among naturalists. He has given TED talks to raise awareness for Snowy Owl conservation, developed community programs to engage the public with invasive species control, and has traveled the world studying wildlife for over a decade. Jack is very passionate about entymology (the study of insects) with particular interests in butterflies and conservation. He has been at it since early childhood, and it is therefore no surprise that his keenness is on an intuitive level. Jack can pick up on natural spectacles that go unnoticed under the noses of most nature enthusiasts. This is a special treat for our customers to witness at Ecotonic Tours!

Doyle Dowdell

Doyle is another intuitive ecological expert. His father was among the highest qualified field naturalists during the peak of his career, and we still look up to his wisdom to this day. From the age of 3, Doyle had the fortune of tagging along on his father’s field work expeditions. By the time Doyle had entered elementary school, he had seen more species of native animals than most people will probably ever see in their lives. A remarkable upbringing indeed, today Doyle is a professional photographer, and is truly gifted at his craft. In addition, Ecotonic Tours is beyond fortunate to have such an irreplaceable mind of naturalist brilliance on our staff, bringing unique and special experiences to share with you!

Our tour guides have had the invaluable luxury of growing up in Cape May, New Jersey. Over the years, many of the world’s most famous naturalists have called this area home including David Sibley, Michael O’brien, Richard Crossley and Kevin Karlson to name only a few. Our tour guides have been mentored among a community of renowned experts, instilling wisdom and practices sought after among the naturalist communities at large. Experts in their own right, our tour guides have traveled together as friends, seeking ecosystem knowledge and animals across the world with the vision of bringing their experiences to your attention, and uncovering new discoveries with you!
